Whilst cycling holidays aren’t designed to be strenuous or make you feel like you have climbed Mt. Ventoux, they are still active and require you to be at set places by the end of the day. Most of the holidays require up to 30 miles of cycling per day and you have all day to reach your next stop.
The important thing is to decide whether you are suitably fit to do the tour. You can gauge this by the distances on each tour page. If you are a confident cyclist then doing 60km per day should be fine though we still recommend you train to build your basic fitness levels up.
We also strongly recommend that you take out travel insurance and if possible ‘sports cover’.
Going on a cycling holiday is one of the best holiday experiences you can ask for and you will be surprised at the distances you can do with little effort. Have a look at our below checklist to see whether a cycling holiday is right for you…
Don’t forget about travel insurance, cycling confidence and a cycling helmet too!
