Day-by-Day Cycling Holiday Itinerary

Day 1: Individual journey to Emden

Welcome briefing in the afternoon and you receive your rental bikes. You will have enough time to discover Emden with its harbour, the art hall and the “Otto” house. One overnight in Emden.

Day 2: Excursion to Borkum

By ferry in two hours to the island of Borkum, biggest east-Frisian Island with offshore climate. Explore the island on 130 km bike paths or cycle along the 26 km long sandy beach. Relaxation pure! In the late afternoon you go back to Emden where you stay overnight again.

Day 3: Emden – Norden approx. 55 km

You cycle to picturesque fisher village Greetsiel, the biggest crab-fisher port of Weser-Ems region. Don’t pass by without having a couple of fresh shrimps. Past the bay of Ley – where you might be lucky to spot seals – you cycle to Norden. One overnight in Norden.

Day 4: Excursion to island Norderney

By ferry in one hour to the island of Norderney which is the oldest health-bath on the North Sea and has been sought after for more than 200 years by persons looking for recuperation. This island is ideally suited to be explored by bicycle. Enjoy the island, the beach-life and National Park Wattenmeer (mud-flats). Further overnight in Norden.

Day 5: Norden – Langeoog approx. 34 km

Along old fortresses you cycle to Dornum with its beautiful water castle and on to Bensersiel. From there you go by ferry to the island of Langeoog. Enjoy your two overnights on this car-free island!

Day 6: Island Langeoog

Discover the beauty of this island where singer Lale Andersen (Lili Marleen) lived. Unique are the sand dunes which are sometimes even 20 metres high. Enjoy the flair of the island, the healthy air and relax during your bike tour or at the beach.

Day 7: Island Langeoog – Aurich – Emden approx. 65 km

You leave Langeoog in the morning. Back on the main land you cycle along the Ems Jade canal which leads you nearly car-free to Emden.

Day 8: Departure or extension

After breakfast individual departure or extended stay.

The German Island Hopping tour stays in 3*** and 4**** hotels and country hotels, carefully chosen for their location, hospitality and proximity to your tour route.

Your stay includes the daily transfer of luggage to the next hotel and permanent assistance in case of problems.

Quality, comfortable and sturdy bikes

We understand that well made bikes are essential for an enjoyable cycling holiday. All bikes are based on technology from leading Austrian bike manufacturer ‘KTM’ and serviced by an expert mechanic.

The bikes use good quality components to give you confidence in the bike on your holiday and comfortable riding on varied cycle paths and roads.

About the bikes

You will be given an easily identifiable, solid and sturdy aluminum trekking bike with V-brakes, solid wheels, almost puncture resistant tyres. Each bike has been built through continuous development and feedback from customers.

Each bike is also fitted with a dynamo lighting system for ease, handlebar bag, pannier, mudguards and comfortable saddle made by Selle Royal.

You can also bring your own saddle and adapter with you (diameter of seat post from 27, 2 to 31, 4 mm). We help you with the fitting of saddles and SPD shoes should you require assistance.

Gear systems

7-gear-bikes are equipped with Shimano NEXUS gear hub. Gears can be changed anytime even whilst stationary.

21-gear-bikes are equipped with Shimano ALIVIO derailleur. The ALIVIO system is robust and easy to use.

Frame sizes

The following frame sizes are available on tours with the bikes shown in the picture:

Unisex frame 21-gears with free wheel. Sizes: 56 / 51 / 46 / 43 cm
Unisex 7-gears-bikes with back pedal brake. Sizes: 56 / 51 / 46 cm

Men’s speed bikes 21-gears with freewheel and crossbar. Sizes: 64 / 60 / 56 “sloping crossbar” cm
(Must be reserved in advance!)

We will request your heights at the time of booking to ensure correct bike sizing.
