The Värmland province situated in the middle of Sweden, lies on the Norwegian border and offers everything that makes Sweden so attractive: open plains in the South, forested hills in the North, numerous rivers, lakes and forests as well as charismatic towns. Värmland is also known as the miniture version of Sweden.
Highlights: Klarälvsbanan (bikepath over a former rail line), The Karlstad province (a student city), Touristic Sunne, Author Selma Lagerlöf (Nobel prize winner) and not to forget the beautiful nature.
Day 1: Arrival into Karlstad
Karlstad, the capital of Värmland, is an lively student city. Here you will find a small shopping center and charming cafe’s. Visit the Värmland museum or have a swim in the Vänern – one of the largest inland lakes within Europe.

Day 2: Karlstad – Dömle
This reasonably flat stage goes via Skåre and Kil to Dömle. There is a golf course next to Dömle Herrgård. It is also possible to go swimming and canoeing in the nearby lake.

Day 3: Dömle – Sunne
Today the route will head towards the touristic town of Sunne. Sunne lies between the 2 lakes of the Mellan Fryken and Övre Fryken. Close to Sunne is the Rottnerospark which is a remarkable garden that also comprises a special adventure park for children. It is also worth your time to visit the town centre.

Day 4: Sunne – Gräsmark – Sunne
Today you can enjoy a pleasant round trip to Gräsmark with a nice view on the lake Rottnen. Gräsmark is a delightful village with a white church and a beautiful lake. You can also choose for a day off. Take a boat trip on lake Fryken or visit the Rottneros Park. Do you want to swim? In Sunne you will find “Vattenland”, one of the biggest outdoor swimming pool of Europe.

Day 5: Sunne – Uddeholm
This various stage stage leads through a richly forested area. Stop where you can for a nice picknick and pass Gjutaregården, Bäckalund and Skoga. In Uddeholm is the Råda lake is extremely close to the hotel. Here you can take a swim.

Day 6: Uddeholm – Munkfors
You will cycle a short part directly along the Råda Lake. In Råda you will find an exhibition about the animals in Värmland. During your trip you pass an icecream farm and a beautiful lake where you can swim. In Munkfors it is possible to visit the museum of the famous swedish painter Lars Lerin.

Day 7: Munkfors – Karlstad
This last stage brings you back to the starting point and rides over a former railway line (now asphalted). This path (Klarälvsbanan) is completely free of automotive transport. Enjoy the nature of Värmland and visit the small villages Deje and Forshaga.

Day 8: Back in Karlstad
After breakfast the last of the hired gear is returned and it’s time to say goodbye.
