Enjoy a region with many art treasures, history‐charged places and scenic beauty. Here you come across traces of the Reformation, impressive buildings like the Cathedral St. Peter and Paul in Naumburg and other facets of outstanding culture.

You will see the porcelain manufacture in Meissen, the Semper Opera in Dresden and the Zwinger Palace as well as the Goethe house in Weimar. But this journey becomes a pleasure too because of best wines, they serve in the region between Dresden and Weimar.

Day-by-Day Cycling Holiday Itinerary


1st day: Arrival to Dresden

You will get your bike (if booked) and more information about the bicycle holiday in the late afternoon. Take a stroll through the nice old town of Dresden before you will enjoy a dinner (included).

2nd day: Dresden – Riesa approx. 60 km

Today you reach Radebeul, which is closely related to the writer Karl May, and the porcelain town Meissen with the Albrechtsburg (castle). Try today at the Saxon wine route the local wines and visit the Baroque castle Diesbar-Seußlitz, before you reach the sports town Riesa.

3rd day: Riesa – Torgau approx. 45 km

Via Mühlberg with the former Cistercian monastery and the tree park of Treblitz your route leads you to Torgau with the castle Hartenfels.

4th day: Torgau – Wittenberg approx. 65 km

The castles Lichtenberg and Pretzsch flank your way to Wittenberg, which awaits you with Luther hall, Luther and Melanchton house.

5th day: Wittenberg – Merseburg approx. 30 km

The train takes you to the Händel town Halle (Saale) with highlights like the Red Tower and the Moritz castle. After that you cycle into the former residential city Merseburg.

6th day: Merseburg – Bad Sulza approx. 60 km

Today we recommend a detour to Freyburg with the Rotkäppchen sparkling wine cellars. You cycle to Naumburg with the Cathedral St. Peter and Paul and Bad Sulza with brine and spa.

7th day: Bad Sulza – Weimar approx. 35 km

The Ilm cycleway takes you to Eberstedt with its cyclists church. After that the bells town Apolda is located on your way into the 1000 years old town Weimar.

8th day: Departure or extra nights

Route Profile
Easy – the daily stages have a length between 25 and 65 kilometres and lead you through plain and partly a bit hilly regions. The Elbe cycleway gives you the possibility to follow without disturbing cars one of the most important and beautiful rivers in Germany. From Wittenberg to Potsdam you cycle on the R1 on quiet rural roads, farm lanes and cycle ways.

About the bikes...

Quality, comfortable and sturdy bikes

We understand that well made bikes are essential for an enjoyable cycling holiday. All bikes are based on technology from leading Austrian bike manufacturer ‘KTM’ and serviced by an expert mechanic.

The bikes use good quality components to give you confidence in the bike on your holiday and comfortable riding on varied cycle paths and roads.

About the bikes

You will be given an easily identifiable, solid and sturdy aluminum trekking bike with V-brakes, solid wheels, almost puncture resistant tyres. Each bike has been built through continuous development and feedback from customers.

Each bike is also fitted with a dynamo lighting system for ease, handlebar bag, pannier, mudguards and comfortable saddle made by Selle Royal.

You can also bring your own saddle and adapter with you (diameter of seat post from 27, 2 to 31, 4 mm). We help you with the fitting of saddles and SPD shoes should you require assistance.

Gear systems

7-gear-bikes are equipped with Shimano NEXUS gear hub. Gears can be changed anytime even whilst stationary.

21-gear-bikes are equipped with Shimano ALIVIO derailleur. The ALIVIO system is robust and easy to use.

Frame sizes

The following frame sizes are available on tours with the bikes shown in the picture:

Unisex frame 21-gears with free wheel. Sizes: 56 / 51 / 46 / 43 cm
Unisex 7-gears-bikes with back pedal brake. Sizes: 56 / 51 / 46 cm

Men’s speed bikes 21-gears with freewheel and crossbar. Sizes: 64 / 60 / 56 “sloping crossbar” cm
(Must be reserved in advance!)

We will request your heights at the time of booking to ensure correct bike sizing.

Any local tourist taxes are not included in the holiday price and are payable at the hotel.

Bike Insurance
This tour benefits from bike insurance against rental bike theft and damage in the holiday price! Please make sure you lock up the bike, leave it where told by the hotel and treat your hire bicycle as if the bike was your own. Any negligent treatment of the bike will exempt you from cover.
