Route features
You will cycle from 25 to 45 km. The kilometres indicated for the cycle tours are approximate. The cycle tour is suitable for people with average fitness level. You will cycle on paved or asphalted cycle ways, on very lightly-trafficked agricultural roads as well as on unpaved trails leading through forests or fields.

There will also be short legs along heavy-trafficked roads. The terrain is mostly flat, though there are some slopes to cope with.

Day-by-Day Itinerary


Day 1: Arrival in Brandýs nad Labem

Individual arrival in Brandýs nad Labem. Embarkation from 4 pm. There will be a ground transfer service at the airport via main station, which takes you directly to the ship (Transfer duration approx. 60 minutes).

Day 2: Brandýs – Prague – Brandýs, Cycle Tour approx. 58 km

Today you will have plenty of time to fully enjoy your first cycle tour to Prague. For 29 km, follow the well-paved cycle route 241, which leads you directly into the historic city centre of this unique major city. After having explored Prague individually, cycle back to the River Elbe and return to Brandýs.

Day 3: Boat Tour Brandýs – Mělník, Cycle Tour alongside the Vltava River from Mělník to Nelahozeves and back, approx. 48 km

In the early morning it is time to cast off! Aboard the MS Florentina you sail to the royal town of Mělník. Here you start for the Vltava-cycle tour to the Veltrusý Park, a vast landscape park with numerous sculptures and pavilions. Afterwards you cycle to the Nelahozeves Castle, which is among the most famous Renaissance castles of Bohemia and is also referred to as the “Little Louvre of the Czech Republic”. Tip: Visit the castle and Antonin Dvořák`s birthplace. From here cycle back to the quaint town of Mělník.

Day 4: Boat Tour Mělník – Roudnice – Litoměřice, Cycle Tour Mělník – Roudnice, approx. 26 km

This morning you have plenty of time to explore the lovely charming town of Mělník with its pastel-coloured façades. Tip: Visit the proud castle, which towers over the Elbe River offering a marvellous panoramic view over the confluence of the Vlatwa and Elbe rivers. From here, cycle almost always alongside the Elbe via Vliněves, Račice and Dobřín to Roudnice, today`s destination. At around 6 pm, the ship sails to Litoměřice.

Day 5: Litoměřice, Day of Rest or Cycle Tour to Ustí and back, approx. 53 km

A day at leisure. Discover one of the most beautiful Czech towns, the royal town of Litoměřice. The colourful Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque buildings in the town centre, which for the most part is encircled by well-preserved Gothic fortifications, will enchant you. Well-worth seeing: Baroque Cathedral of St Stephen atop the dome hill, the historic underground (extensive tunnel system) or the Bishop’s residence.

You might also be interested in an individual visit to the Terezín Memorial (Theresienstadt) in the village of Terezìn. The concentration camp memorial is located only 5 km away. The more advanced cyclists may feel to cycle to Ustí – idyllically situated in the narrow valley of the Elbe river – You will come by the Bohemian Gate and by the old castle ruin of Schreckenstein. Overnight the MS FLORENTINA will be moored in Litoměřice.

Day 6: Boat Tour Litoměřice – Mělník – Brandys nad Labem,
Cycle Tour Mělník – Brandýs nad Labem, approx. 30 km

In the morning sail once more to the quaint town of Mělník, perched on a hill overlooking the confluence of the Vltava and Elbe rivers. Today`s cycle tour leads partly alongside the untouched banks of the Elbe, though woods, quiet wetlands and small villages but also along quiet country roads to Brandýs nad Labem.

Day 7: Brandýs nad Labem, Bus Transfer to Prague and back, or Optional Cycle Tour to Prague and back, 58 km

Today the Golden City of Prague is on the agenda again. After breakfast, there will be a bus transfer service to Prague. In Prague, you will have free time to explore the city individually for the second time. In the afternoon transfer service back to the ship. Naturally you may also choose to cycle to Prague and back.

Day 8: Departure from Brandýs nad Labem

Disembarkation after breakfast, till 09:30am. There will be a ground transfer service that will take you to from the ship to Prague main station and following to the airport.

About the MS Florentina

Built in 1980 and completely refurbished in 2008 and in 2014, the MS FLORENTINA is a cosy and comfortable middle-class ship.

The Czech chef prepares national good home cooking which will be served in the bright, friendly restaurant with bar. Both the little lounge next to the reception and the observation saloon with its panoramic windows on the upper deck offer comfortable seating areas. Rest and relax you find on the deck chairs on the large sun deck.

The ship features 16 twin cabins (approx.10 sq m) and 4 single cabins (approx. 8 sq m) with French balcony (opening windows) on the upper deck, and 25 twin cabins (ca. 10 sq m) and 2 single cabins(ca. 8 sq m) on the main deck (windows cannot be opened). All 47 cabins are outside cabins and have en-suite shower facilities. They all also include individual climate control, hairdryers, TV’s and safes. There is W-LAN in the reception area (please note that the signal is not always available).

Bike hire on board: smooth-running 7 speed-unisex-city bikes made by KTM (custom built for SE-tours) with hand- and back pedal brakes or 7 speed freewheel hubs and with pannier bags. Electric bikes (limited number available – early booking required). On booking, please tell us your body height.

Cycle Tours: individual and self-guided. You will cycle from 26 to 58 km. The kilometres indicated for the cycle tours are approximate.

Cycle ways/level of difficulty: The cycle tour is suitable for people with average fitness level. You will cycle on paved or asphalted cycle ways, on very lightly-trafficked agricultural roads as well as on unpaved trails leading through forests or fields. There will also be short legs along heavy-trafficked roads. The terrain is mostly flat, though there are some slopes to cope with.

Excursions: Optional excursions during the journey must be booked on board.

Luggage on board: we recommend waterproof rain gear, bike helmet, sun hat and sports shoes.

Special dietary needs: (e.g. lactose-free and gluten-free diet) on request and there will be an extra fee. Please inform us at least 14 days prior to departure. If necessary, some special dietary product must be brought along.

Alterations of schedule or programme: subject to change. In the event that because of low or high water levels or adverse weather conditions a route cannot be taken, the captain reserves the right to change the route for your safety (this would not be a reason for fee-free cancellation).

• For safety reasons, sun deck access may be limited in times of high water levels/low bridge clearance.

• Bicycles may sometimes be stored ashore overnight as a transport on the ship would not be possible due to low bridge clearance.

• Please note for your tour planning that due to numerous locks, the ship will always be slower than a cyclist.

Travel documents: EU citizens need a valid identity card or passport for this journey.
