Cycle Route Profile
Easy. The Elbe bike route provides the opportunity to cycle along the loveliest and important fleets of Germany without traffic. Another route section leads along country roads with light traffic through varied landscapes.
The approximate difficulty level for this tour
Day 1: Arrival to Dresden
Individual arrival to Dresden. Welcome briefing and distribution of rental bikes. Afterwards use the opportunity to stroll through the beautiful old town Dresden. Explore the world famous sights and the magic of the city with the unique buildings like “Zwinger Palace”, “Frauenkirche” (Church of Ladys), Dresden Castle and the famous opera house (Semperoper).
Day 2: Saxon Switzerland (approx. 45 km
Return to Dresden by a suburban train) The bikeway leads along the river Elbe to the baroque Castle Pillnitz and upwards to the Elbe Sandstone Mountains. The Sandstone‐Tablemountain with the fortress Königstein is on the right side of the Elbe. The return from Bad Schandau to Dresden happens by bike or suburban trail (optional).
Day 3: Dresden ‐ Meissen, approx. 25 km
Along the romantic valley of the Elbe you cycle through Saxon Vineyards past Radebeul to Meissen. The city is well known for the Meissen porcelain. The picturesque alleys of the historical city center give an occasion to take a stroll and to go on shopping. Come and see the “Albrechtsburg” or the world famous Meissen manufacture.
Day 4: Meissen ‐ Riesa, approx. 35 km
Taste the wine or visit the baroque castle Diesbar‐Seußlitz on you way along the saxon wine route. Overnight in Riesa!
Day 5: Riesa ‐ Torgau, approx. 45 km
On the way to Mühlberg visit the Cistercian monastery and you should not miss the “Treblitzscher Baumpark” (Treblitz park of tree´s) with trees and bushes from five continents. Overnight in Torgau!
Day 6: Follow the traces of Martin Luther to Wittenberg, approx. 65 km berg, approx. 65 km
The castles “Lichtenberg” and “Pretzsch” show the way to Wittenberg. When you arrived in Wittenberg you have the opportunity to follow the traces of Martin Luther. The hall of Luther is the most interesting building of Wittenberg and has the biggest world historic collection on Reformation.
Day 7: Wittenberg – Dessau, approx. 30 km
Continue downstream through the charming Wörlitzer Park Grounds to Dessau, a Mecca for architecture lovers.
Day 8: Departure from Dessau
Departure from Dessau in the morning.
Daily routes from 30 to 70 km in flat and slightly hilly terrain. The Elbe cycle path offers the possibility to cycle on car-free roads along one of the most beautiful and most important rivers in Germany.
Other sections lead along small country roads and paths with less traffic through diversified river landscape.

We understand that well made bikes are essential for an enjoyable cycling holiday. All bikes are based on technology from leading Austrian bike manufacturer ‘KTM’ and serviced by an expert mechanic.
The bikes use good quality components to give you confidence in the bike on your holiday and comfortable riding on varied cycle paths and roads.
About the bikes
You will be given an easily identifiable, solid and sturdy aluminum trekking bike with V-brakes, solid wheels, almost puncture resistant tyres. Each bike has been built through continuous development and feedback from customers.
Each bike is also fitted with a dynamo lighting system for ease, handlebar bag, pannier, mudguards and comfortable saddle made by Selle Royal.
You can also bring your own saddle and adapter with you (diameter of seat post from 27, 2 to 31, 4 mm). We help you with the fitting of saddles and SPD shoes should you require assistance.
7-gear-bikes are equipped with Shimano NEXUS gear hub. Gears can be changed anytime even whilst stationary.
21-gear-bikes are equipped with Shimano ALIVIO derailleur. The ALIVIO system is robust and easy to use.
The following frame sizes are available on tours with the bikes shown in the picture:

Unisex 7-gears-bikes with back pedal brake. Sizes: 56 / 51 / 46 cm

Category A: Comfortable hotels and guest houses, basically in the 3*** and 4*** category, centrally located in most cases.
Category B: Good middle hotels and guest houses, basically 3*** category, partly situated at the outskirts of town.

Prices are per person per night and based on two sharing. Single supplements apply.
For extra nights, you will stay in the same hotel. Please let us know if you wish to book extra nights at the start or at the end of the tour when completing your ‘Booking Request’.
Any local tourist taxes are not included in the holiday price and are payable at the hotel.
This tour benefits from bike insurance against rental bike theft and damage in the holiday price! Please make sure you lock up the bike, leave it where told by the hotel and treat your hire bicycle as if the bike was your own. Any negligent treatment of the bike will exempt you from cover.
