Day-by-Day Cycling Holiday Itinerary


Day 1: Arrival in Copenhagen

Feel free to explore the town on your own initiative. All points of interest are easily reached by bike, foot, or bus.

It is definitely worth while to book an extended stay at the beginning or end of your tour.

Overnight in Copenhagen.

Day 2: Copenhagen – Køge, ca. 49 km

Cycle south along the beaches of Copenhagen and continue on the Berlin-Copenhagen Cycle Route to the small town of Køge.

A beautiful Medieval market square and Denmark’s oldest court house await you there.

Enjoy the nearby white sand beach and take time for daydreaming or a refreshing swim.

Overnight in or near Køge.

Day 3: Køge – Mon Island, approx. 52 / 68 km / 32 / 42 mi

Take the train in the morning (on your own initiative) which takes you to Rødvig.

Either you cycle along Faxe Bay to Praestø and then to Mon Island or you cycle in the direction of the west coast of Zealand (Great Belt) to Naestved. Overnight stay in Stege or Naestved.

Day 4: Mon Island – Nykøbing / Falster, approx. 69 km / 42.8 mi

Today’s route stage runs from Mon Island to Bogø Island, on the ferry to Stubbekøbing (on your own initiative) and then to Nykøbing.

You can also follow the west coast via Vordingsborg to Falster. Overnight stay in Nykøbing / Falster.

Day 5: Nykøbing / Falster – Rostock, approx. 32 km / 19.9 mi

Passing the holiday region around Marielyst you continue to the ferry in Gedser which takes you to Rostock (incl.).

The travel time on the ferry is approx. 2 hours.

A bikeway leads directly into town and to your hotel.

Overnight stay in Rostock.

Day 6: Rostock – Güstrow, approx. 37 – 57 km / 23 – 35.4 mi

Leave Rostock to the south. Then partly follow Warnow Valley (Warnowtal) and Nebel Valley (Nebeltal) whilst cycling on the idyllic paths to the Barlach town Güstrow.

Overnight stay in Güstrow or in the surrounding region.

Day 7: Güstrow – Krakow, approx. 30 km / 18.6 mi

The upcoming route segments to Krakow am See runs through the slightly wavy landscape of Mecklenburg Switzerland.

Your destination is Schwinzer Heide (Schwinzer Heath).

Overnight stay in Krakow am See or in the surrounding region.

Day 8: Krakow – Waren / Müritz, approx. 50 km / 31 mi

Pass Drewitzer See (Lake Drewitz) and Nossentiner Hütte and continue through spacious pine and spruce forests to Jabel.

Continue to Kölpinsee (Lake Kölpin) and to Binnenmüritz (inland Müritz River) by cycling on the beautiful paths to Waren / Müritz.

Overnight stay in Waren / Müritz or in the surrounding region.

Day 9: Waren – Neustrelitz, approx. 57 km / 35.4 mi

A big part of this route stage is the path through Müritz National Park.

On your way you have the chance to observe the aeries near Federow. Overnight stay in Neustrelitz or in the surrounding region.

Day 10: Neustrelitz – Fürstenberg, approx. 60 km / 37.3

Back to the course of the Havel River, follow the young river to Woblitzsee (Lake Woblitz) and cycle through Wesenberger Seenkreuz. From here you can either cycle to Stechlin or to Fürstenberg / Havel where you find your destination in Brandenburg.

Day 11: Fürstenberg – Oranienburg, approx. 60 km / 37.3 mi

On your way to Havel village Zehdenick you again get to cycle on Havel River.

After a short while you reach the city of Oranienburg located north of Berlin.

In Oranienburg you can take the commuter train (S-Bahn) to Berlin Mitte (city center).

Day 12: Departure Oranienburg

Departure takes place after breakfast.
